Charles Barkley fires unfiltered take on Bucks’ Patrick Beverley’s heated moment with Pacers fans

Well, that’s not a good way to express your frustration. The Milwaukee Bucks were understandably frustrated in the waning moments of their  Game 6 loss to the Indiana Pacers. They were expected to be top contenders for the title, and yet there they were, about to be bounced out of the playoffs. However, Patrick Beverley’s frustration led to a tense moment between him and some Pacers fans.

If you didn’t see the incident, Patrick Beverley threw a basketball not once, but TWICE, towards some Pacers fans. The live broadcast caught the incident in broad daylight. There’s not really a lot of wiggle room here: the Bucks star intentionally threw that ball into the stands to hit fans.

Of course, Beverley was blasted online for this incident, with fans calling for a lengthy suspension and a hefty fine. One of the Bucks point guard’s critics was Charles Barkley. The former NBA legend has a history of pulling similar antics, so he knows how hard the NBA will come down on Pat. (via Awful  Announcing)

“Listen, I’ve done stupid stuff and I got criticized. That’s just wrong. He’s gonna get suspended for that. And that’s gonna be a good one, too. ‘Cause he didn’t do it once. He did it twice.”

That wasn’t the only viral incident that Beverley was involved in. During the post-game media scrum, the Bucks PG singled out a reporter who said that she wasn’t subscribed to his podcast. Beverley then proceeded to harass the reporter, telling her to get out of the reporter circle simply because she wasn’t subbed to him. Overall, bizarre.

Patrick Beverley’s odd attitude

Patrick Beverley has long been considered a pretty polarizing figure in the NBA landscape. For the longest time, fans said that he’s the type of  player that you love to hate, but once he’s on your side he’s amazing. Well, these incidents, as well as his play in this season, will make Bucks fans wish he was gone.

There was a time where you could tolerate Pat Bev’s antics on the court. While he was never a star on the court, Beverley  was a game-changer who provided defense, hustle, and the occasional offense. All of those are valuable traits for a role player. Right now, though, the Bucks guard has not been playing the same way.

Barkley would know a thing or two about being suspended after being involved with fans. Back during his playing days, Barkley got into arguments and altercations with  fans. Once, he spat at a young fan, too. The NBA Hall of Famer has since talked about regretting these incidents and wishing he could take it back.

The NBA will surely investigate this incident before handing out any punishment. One thing that they will certainly look at is if Beverley was provoked by the fans, causing the Bucks point guard to throw the ball at them. It certainly does not justify Beverley’s actions (it seemed like the woman he hit first was blindsided by the ball), but it would  add some context. This, combined with Bev’s dismissive attitude during the press conference, will most likely lead to a suspension for the point guard.
