New York Giants: Evan Neal Has New Message For NFL Fans Who Criticized His ‘Flipping Burgers’ Insult
Danielle Parhizkaran/NorthJersey.com / USA TODAY NETWORK

Evan Neal had a new message for New York Giants and NFL fans who took umbrage at his earlier statement following criticism of his poor play to start the season. The Giants selected Neal with the seventh overall pick in the 2022 draft, hoping he could solidify the offensive line.

That hasn’t panned out.

According to Pro Football Focus, Neal has a 42.5 overall grade for his play through four games this season. He’s allowed 20 pressures and given up one sack. Giants fans lashed out at Neal after the humiliating defeat on Monday Night Football to the Seattle Seahawks in Week 4.

Per GH Media files, Neal sounded off on fans:

“Why would a lion concern himself with the opinion of a sheep?” Neal said and added those fans can “flip hot dogs and hamburgers somewhere.”

Evan Neal apologizes to New York Giants fans

Giants fans didn’t respond to Neal’s comments kindly. By Wednesday night, Neal wrote an apology he posted on X to fans for his earlier comment.

“I am wrong for lashing out at the fans who are just as passionate and frustrated as I am. I let my frustrations in my play + desire to win get the best of me. I had no right to make light of anyone’s job and I deeply regret the things I said.

We are working day in and day out to grow as a team and this was an unnecessary distraction. I apologize.”

We’ll see if Giants fans forgive Neal for their next home game in Week 7.
