Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly hopes the supporters can remain patient as the team rebuilds.
The American has come under intense criticism for the money the club has spent on younger players in the past 18 months.
Boehly, who is the club's co-owner along with Behdad Eghbali, believes they will get it right.
In an interview with Forbes, Boehly said: The good news is people care so much. And the bad news is people care so much.
That leads to times when they're frustrated with the team and the owners. I get that, but we just have to continue to stay the course."
Boehly added on his young team: We just need to let the process develop and give them the time to go from being unbelievable individual players with great skills to fold into a team."
He also warned fans against irreversible toxicity" that would only harm the team.
